Madison Magazine's Best Places to Work – 2010 & 2012

UW Credit Union is one of Madison Magazine's 2012 Best Places to Work. This is the second consecutive time the credit union has won this award (the magazine presents this honor every other year).

Our employees were surveyed anonymously on six areas of engagement—trust, management, development, rewards, connection and life-work balance, and ranked their attitudes toward these engagement measurements. In addition, our environmental sustainability and diversity efforts were included in the rankings. The survey is based on an employee engagement framework developed by Next Generation Consulting, a Madison-based research and consulting firm.

2009, 2010 & 2011 Wisconsin Financial Literacy Award

UW Credit Union was awarded the Wisconsin Financial Education Literacy Award in 2009, 2010 and 2011. It is given to organizations and individuals who promote financial literacy among Wisconsin residents.

Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award

UW Credit Union won a state-level first place award and a nationwide honorable mention in the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Award Program. The award was received for taking a lead role fundraising for need-based scholarships for the six campus communities we serve. Over $1.5 million was raised and placed in a permanent endowment. Award recipients are judged on one charitable initiative done within the past year that demonstrates the credit union values of self-help, cooperation, economic empowerment and volunteerism.

CUNA HR/TD Excellence Award for Employee Engagement

In 2011, we were named a recipient of the CUNA Human Resource Training and Development Council (CUNA HR/TD) Excellence Award for Employee Engagement. This award recognizes and honors credit unions that exemplify excellence in the human resources and training disciplines, and we were selected for our initiatives that create a culture of high engagement with our employees.

United Way Awards

UW Credit Union received four awards for our 2011 internal United Way employee giving campaign. One of these awards was the distinguished “Innovation Award” that is awarded to three businesses that had the most innovative and creative campaigns. UW Credit Union also received the Best Practice Award for the methods the campaign was promoted internally, the community Growth Award for the largest percentage increase in new donors, as well as the Silver Award, which is given to organizations with employee gifts that average between $100 and $149.

Voted #1 Credit Union by In Business, Corporate Report Wisconsin and Madison.com

• The December 2009 issue of In Business magazine features the annual Executive Choice Awards. UW Credit Union was awarded the preferred credit union - #1. Businesses were voted on by the In Business Executive Register, which is made up of more than 550 business executives.
• In 2010, the readers of Corporate Report Wisconsin magazine voted UW Credit Union the best credit union in Wisconsin—for the second year in a row. Over 2,600 readers of the magazine went online to nominate companies that they felt were the best in different categories.
• In 2010, UW Credit Union was voted best credit union in the Star of Madison awards, sponsored by Madison.com. Madison.com readers voted online in June 2010.

Outstanding Environmental Accomplishment Award

UW Credit Union received an award from Shred-it for "Outstanding Environmental Accomplishment" for 2009. It recognizes our internal shredding and recycling practices in all of our branches. During 2009, we recycled enough paper to save 910 trees from destruction, which is about 107,058 pounds of paper.

Governor's Worksite Wellness Award

UW Credit Union is a Silver Level award winner of the Governor's Worksite Wellness Award. This award recognizes the credit union's commitment to building an environment which enables employees to develop and maintain lifelong health behaviors.
