Our Commitment
We give back to the community by supporting a variety of charitable organizations and events. Our mission includes a dedication to:
- Financial Literacy. Providing financial education in the community and college scholarships for deserving students.
- University of Wisconsin and Affiliates. Supporting events and programs associated with the campus communities we serve.
- Quality of Life. Giving to charitable causes in our communities that are focused on meeting basic human needs, which includes increasing accessibility for home ownership in the state of Wisconsin.
Support to Our Communities
- Provided $11,000 in scholarship funds in support of area high school seniors who plan to attend a UW System school or Madison College. Since 1999, UW Credit Union has provided $199,000 in scholarship money through this program.
- In 2008, with the help of our members, we raised $1.5 million for needs-based scholarships. These funds were placed in a permanent endowment with the earnings given to students who have been accepted to attend a UW System school, but are unable to afford the cost of attendance. In 2010, 17 deserving students each received annual scholarships.
- Gave to United Way and Community Shares
- Participated in and sponsored many community programs, some of these included:
- Money Smart Financial Literacy Week—Educational seminars to improve financial literacy in Wisconsin
- "Get Checking"—Helps people re-establish a checking account after it has been mishandled
- Habitat for Humanity UW-Madison Campus Chapter Souper Bowl
- UW-Madison Homecoming, All Campus Party and Parents Weekend
- UW Credit Union Summer Stage on the Wisconsin Union Terrace
- UW-Milwaukee PantherFest, Family Weekend and Panther Prowl
- UW-Whitewater Homecoming, Earthweek & Athletics
- UW-Green Bay Alumni Association
- Madison College Win a Career Scholarship Program
- UW-Stevens Point Athletics
