Protect Yourself Against Phishing
Recently, Dane county financial institutions were hit with phishing emails and text messages, fraudulent communications sent in attempt to get your personal information. Although UW Credit Union members weren't targeted, protect yourself from becoming a victim of fraud.
In this recent case, customers were told that their accounts were being closed and that an investigation would take place. A false 800 number was set up to collect personal information.
Remember:
- When you receive valid emails from UW Credit Union, they will always contain the security phrase you set up in Web Branch.
- If you receive any emails that you are unsure about, contact us at 608-232-5000 or 800-533-6773 to validate the authenticity of the message.
- Don't contact any phone numbers you don't know and especially, don't give out personal, account or credit/debit card information.
