Prevent Unnecessary Fees

We are committed to your financial success. In an effort to help you avoid fees here at the credit union, try this advice.

  1. Monitor Your Balances. One source of fees that you may encounter would occur if you overdraw your account. If you have sufficient balances in you accounts, you are less likely to overdraft. One suggestion is to log into Web Branch every day to check your balances. This can be done by visiting uwcu.org, or with Mobile Banking at m.uwcu.org. You can also use Text Banking to access your accounts with text messages.

In addition, if you track your spending and are aware of where your money goes, you’ll be on a path to better personal money management. Try using Money Management Tools in Web Branch if you haven't already. Money Management Tools categorizes your expenses so you know where you’re spending your money. Or, use Text or Mobile Banking to stay on top of your account balances. With Text Banking, you can send text messages to receive your balance, transfer funds and more, without the need for Web access. With Mobile Banking, use your Web-enabled mobile device to access Web Branch to check your balance and perform transfers if necessary. Both tools are perfect for on-the-go account management.
  2. Keep Enough Qualifying Services. Our checking accounts are structured to fit your needs. If you opened a Campus Package, you were automatically signed up for the minimum number of qualifying services required to avoid fees. However, if you cancel or stop using a Qualifying Service, you may drop below the number of required services, which may result in a monthly fee. In order to check how many Qualifying Services you have, just log in to Web Branch and visit the Profile & Services tab. Click "My Rewards Checking Package" in the Services column. Keep in mind that if you count your Qualifying Services and you don't have enough, you can change the checking account type that you have to better fit your situation.
