Thinking About Buying a Home?

Low rates and a slow housing market make it easy

If you're thinking of buying a home, now's a great time to take that leap. There are several advantages for buyers during the slow housing market and special incentives to make it worthwhile.

  1. Sellers are more likely to accept offers for less than the asking price. In a faster paced market, a common strategy would be to offer more than the asking price to ensure your offer is accepted.
  2. Sellers, to be reflective of the market, often set their asking prices lower than similar houses sold before the housing market decline. Sellers are also more willing to pay for closing costs, complete repairs and include appliances. You'll also have more room for price negotiation.
  3. You have a better selection of homes to choose from as well as more thinking time before making a decision. It is less likely that buyers will receive multiple offers in a slow market. There are also more short sale and foreclosed properties available, which tend to be priced for less.
