UW Credit Union has won a state-level first place award and a nationwide honorable mention in the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Award Program. UW Credit Union was awarded the Dora Maxwell Award for an initiative implemented in 2008, in which they took a lead role fundraising for need-based scholarships for the six campus communities they serve.

The Wiscard UW Credit Union Program is now available. This new program makes it possible for any of the nearly 76,000 Wiscard holders to begin using their UW-Madison campus card at any ATM or business that accepts PIN-based debit transactions.

UW Credit Union today announced a definitive agreement to purchase the AMCORE Bank building located at 2365 North Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The 14,000 square foot building will become UW Credit Union’s third branch location in Milwaukee.

UW Credit Union is proud to announce the addition of a new tool called “Debt in Focus” to uwcu.org. Debt in Focus is a free, anonymous web-based debt education tool to help consumers with budgeting and personal finances.

The Board of Regents approved an agreement that partners UW-Madison with UW Credit Union in providing banking services to the campus community. These services include a full-service branch at the new south campus Union when it opens, 18 surcharge-free campus ATMs and enhanced ID Wiscard service that allows PIN-based debit transactions.

UW Credit Union is rolling out Paycheck Advance, an alternative to traditional payday loans on June 15, 2009. This innovative program will give members in good standing access to a short-term loan without the traditional loan application process. The program offers an interest rate dramatically lower than the average offered by storefront payday lenders.

UW Credit Union’s full-service Fitchburg branch opens Friday, May 29 at 6331 McKee Road (in the Orchard Pointe Shopping Center). The full-service branch includes drive-up lanes, surcharge free ATMS, safe deposit boxes, and convenient parking and bike racks for members.
