New Innovation at UW Credit Union Nets UW Children's Hospital $10,000 Donation

June 6, 2011 – UW Credit Union was the recipient of the FIS/UNISYS FIRST Award. This award recognizes and honors the credit union’s innovation in providing members free online access to their credit scores.

This innovation award goes annually to a FIS/UNISYS client selected for their efforts to promote technology innovation for social good. Among the nearly 100 FIS/UNISYS clients nationally, UW Credit Union was chosen as the sole recipient of the 2011 FIRST Award. The award included a $10,000 monetary donation to the recipient’s charity of choice.

"We're honored to receive the FIRST Award and to be recognized among our peers for providing our members with free access to their credit scores - one of the most important components of their financial profile," said UW Credit Union President and CEO Paul Kundert.

"We're also pleased to be able to provide a $10,000 donation to the American Family Children's Hospital on behalf of our members and employees," continued Kundert. "The Children's Hospital is truly a remarkable place that we're proud to support."

My Credit Score was launched September 13, 2010, by UW Credit Union. My Credit Score is a free online tool that provides all UW Credit Union members with free online access to their credit scores. It also provides resources to help monitor changes in credit scores over time and customized tips to improve individual credit scores.

"Now more than ever, consumers want access to their credit score with no hidden fees or costs," said Kundert. "Providing a personalized credit score service for our members is another example of how we are committed to business practices that promote the financial well-being of our members and the community."

To date, personal credit scores have been presented online to more than 131,000 of our members, and more than 24,000 members have used the in-depth tools to understand, and potentially improve their credit score.
