Reserve Line of Credit
The Reserve Line of Credit is the first line of defense we check for when an overdraft occurs. We'll automatically advance enough to cover your account in $100 increments. There's a small fee for this service and interest accrues until the loan is paid in full. You can make your own advances from your reserve line online without a fee.

Transfer from Savings
Next, we'll check to see whether a transfer from savings would prevent the overdraft. If so, we'll automatically transfer the money in $100 increments for you. There's a small fee for us to make the transfer; however, you are able to make transfers online to avoid the fee.

Basic Reserve
As a last defense, all checking accounts automatically have Basic Reserve* coverage. Access Checking has $200 of coverage; Value has $400; and Premium has $600. There's a charge for this service, the same fee as a returned check, but you'll save the fees charged by merchants.
*An overdraft fee of $30 will be charged to cover overdrafts from ACH debit, recurring debit card and checks. A $10 negative account balance grace threshold is also provided (members who overdraw their account by less than $10 will not be charged an overdraft fee.) UW Credit Union limits overdraft fees to no more than one per business day. Members will have 45 days to bring the account current. Payment of overdrafts is discretionary. See disclosure for details.
