Internet Security Safeguards

Our system includes firewalls to keep out unauthorized users, intrusion detection systems and other monitoring tools, anti-virus protection to prevent infection of UW Credit Union systems by computer viruses and other malicious code, and disaster recovery plans to help ensure system availability and critical data integrity.

Encryption Technology
We use the latest encryption technology to prevent anyone from intercepting or viewing your personal information. A secure website will list “https” instead of just “http” in the website URL. UW Credit Union’s security certificate is issued by Symantec, the leading provider of security certificates. 

VerifyU
While navigating Web Branch, you may be prompted to validate your identity with this system, which uses random, single-use codes delivered directly to you via phone, text message or authenticator app. This added layer of online security makes it substantially more difficult for a cyber thief to gain access to your accounts.

Account Locking
Web Branch accounts are locked out after a set number of unsuccessful log-in attempts, which protects your private information from random password guessing. If your account has been locked out, please use the password reset form in Web Branch or contact us to have your password reset.

Credit & Debit Card Protection
Our cards come with chip technology, 24/7 fraud monitoring and zero liability coverage in the event your card information is compromised. If we see a suspicious transaction through our monitoring systems, we’ll contact you to verify that transaction. If it was unauthorized by you, we’ll block the transaction and reissue your card.
