UW Credit Union and Jonathan Taylor Generate $10K for United Way

“Jump Around” Giveback Campaign bolsters long-term COVID-19 recovery plans in Madison and Milwaukee

Madison, WI – July 2, 2020 – Indianapolis Colt Jonathan Taylor is keeping Wisconsin front and center, wrapping up his recent “Jump Around” giveback campaign with UW Credit Union with a $10,000 donation to United Way’s COVID-19 Urgent Needs Fund. The funds will support United Way’s long-term community response strategy as agencies transition into the next step of recovery.

In May, UW Credit Union pledged $23 to both the United Way of Dane County and United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County for every new checking account opened with the organization’s Jump Around or Bucky debit cards. The campaign generated a total of $10,000 in donations to be evenly distributed among Dane and Milwaukee/Waukesha counties.

“As we reflect on the past few months and the powerful ways people have come together to effect change, we also recognize that the road to recovery is long, said UW Credit Union President & CEO Paul Kundert. “We’re extremely proud of the work United Way is doing to address the complex, evolving needs of our communities and we’re grateful to our members for helping to make this donation possible.

United Way is working tirelessly to make sure that area organizations' needs are met and that high-demand items, including groceries and diapers, are regularly provided to underserved families. Long-term recovery efforts will benefit nonprofits, individuals and families. Core needs include:

  • Food/meals for older adults and children
  • Eviction prevention
  • Homelessness prevention
  • Flex fund (flexible dollars to respond to other crises that individuals, families or nonprofits experience)

“Covering the real-time needs for at-risk families remains a top priority and every dollar truly matters” said United Way Dane County President & CEO Renee Moe. “After months of weathering this economic storm, we’re focused on mobilizing our community to support the critical work of organizations and nonprofits as they reopen. Optimizing the supply of PPE is just one of the ways this donation will make an immediate difference.”

Taylor, who has been a member of UW Credit Union since his freshman year, became the financial institution’s first brand ambassador in January. He teamed up with UW Credit Union this spring to help raise funds for United Way and support essential workers. He recently shared this video, to thank UW Credit Union members for their support and to urge others to get involved.
