Providing Local Relief When - and Where - it's Needed Most

Madison, WI – Oct. 20, 2020 – UW Credit Union was recently granted an additional $15,000 from the FHLB-Chicago COVID Relief Fund to award to nonprofit partner organizations who are supporting minority communities with COVID relief. Our leadership team is eager to put those funds to immediate work through two of our partner organizations: Forward Community Investments and The Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness.

As COVID-19 hospitalizations reach record levels in Dane County, we continue to see minority community members disproportionately affected by this crisis. These disparities are especially prevalent among Black, Latino, and Native American communities. Both FCI and The Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness have been at the forefront of curbing racial inequalities through financial resources and cooperative social action. FFBWW will use the funds to help women meet their family’s immediate needs for food, housing, childcare, toiletries, medication, healthcare-related costs and other critical expenses. FCI will utilize the grant to expand affordable housing and economic development for clients hit hardest by the pandemic including, elderly, rural and low- and moderate-income community members.

We recognize that when people choose a credit union or community bank, they’re often choosing an organization with shared values. Creating a more inclusive, equitable Wisconsin is a shared mission that we are proud to support through focused giving and strong community partnerships.
