Types of Savings Accounts

Savings

The account that all members open when they join UW Credit Union, your savings account can help you reach your goals.

  • No monthly fee with 2 Qualifying Services or $1,000 balance (otherwise $5 monthly)
  • $5 minimum opening deposit and balance requirement
  • Savings-only ATM cards available for members without checking accounts

Plus, you can open multiple savings accounts to save for specific goals. Set money aside for a vacation, wedding, emergency fund or whatever goal you have in mind.

College Fund

Save for a child’s secondary education. With a higher dividend rate than a regular savings account, you can plan for future expenses.

  • No monthly fee
  • $100 minimum opening deposit and balance requirement
  • Funds automatically transfer to student at age 21

One custodian (usually a parent or grandparent but there’s no requirement to be related) and one minor can be on the account. The custodian controls the account, but the minor may make deposits.

Youth Savings

Teach your children the importance of saving! Youth savings accounts are available for children ages 0-17, with a joint account holder required for ages 14 and younger.

  • Account automatically converts to a regular savings account when member turns 18
