Madison, WI – October 9, 2019 – UW Credit Union opens its 28th branch and second Fitchburg location on October 21, 2019, at 2885 Fish Hatchery Road.

“Fitchburg is a dynamic and diverse community and one of the fastest growing cities in Wisconsin,” explains Sarah Menihan, director of member sales & service. “As the city continues to grow, so does the need for expanded services and local resources. We knew adding a second Fitchburg branch would be crucial in supporting members on their financial journey.”

The new full-service branch provides financial services including personal banking, mortgages and investments. A family-friendly area is available for busy parents, and separate rooms offer privacy for one-on-one financial counseling.

“We are thrilled that our residents will now have an additional location for services on Fish Hatchery Road,” says Angela Kinderman, executive director of Fitchburg Chamber Visitor & Business Bureau. “We are focused on growing our economy with opportunity and access for all.”

UW Credit Union will host a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration on Thursday, November 14 from 1-3 p.m. at the new Fish Hatchery Road branch that all are welcome to attend. Bucky Badger will be in attendance, and refreshments will be served. In addition, UW Credit Union will host a food drive from November 4-15 to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry located just down the road.

“On an average day we’ll serve 80 shoppers; on holiday weeks we’ll serve up to 120 shoppers a day,” reports Lauren Cnare, senior director of community engagement at St. Vincent de Paul – Madison. “Our food pantry thrives because of the generosity of individuals and organizations who donate food, dollars and time to feed the 61,000 people who shopped at the food pantry last year.”

St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry supplies come from food drives, their volunteer-run Lacy Pantry Garden, area grocery stores and restaurants, USDA food programs and financial donations. Shoppers at the food pantry benefit from fresh produce, milk, eggs, a variety of culturally familiar foods and diapers.

“We want to give back, and our food drive is just one way to strengthen local partnerships and community outreach,” says Isaac Stahlke, Fitchburg native and branch manager at the new Fish Hatchery Road branch. “I’m excited for the opportunity to serve members in our beautiful new branch. I'm also excited to give back to the community where I grew up and to see our continued investment in Fitchburg.”

Please consider bringing a donation for the food drive between November 4-15. Top needed items during this time are flour, sugar, spices, cooking oil and other ingredients used to create holiday meals.
