UW Credit Union Named a Finalist in PRNEWS’ Diversity Awards
UWCU is a finalist in the "Diversity and Inclusion Program" category
UW Credit Union has been named a finalist in PRNEWS’ inaugural Diversity Awards, a national program that honors communicators who use their platforms to advance diversity, equity and inclusion, social justice issues and more. We’re a finalist in the “Diversity and Inclusion Program” category; all finalists can be reviewed here.
“We are so proud of this achievement,” said Sheila Milton, VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at UW Credit Union. “Making a commitment to DEI and bringing our employees along every step of the way is strengthening our company culture, our relationships to our members and our community. This nomination is a reflection of how much great work we done thus far on our DEI journey.”
UW Credit Union’s DEI initiatives includes training for all employees, regular workshops, equitable hiring practices, an expanded lineup of Employee Resource Groups, investments in organizations that serve communities of color, and more. In March, the organization announced the UW Credit Union Fund for Racial Equity, a $1.5 million investment in organizations that remove barriers for people of color by creating financial stability and closing the education achievement gap.
In addition to the nomination, Milton will share key learnings about DEI at PRNEWS’ upcoming Social Impact Summit. She will join a panel called “Walking the Walk on Diversity” on April 27.
Winners of the PRNEWS Diversity Awards will be named during a virtual gala on April 27.
